Hoco Prepares to Celebrate into the Night

McDowell students will step out in their best dresses and ties to celebrate Homecoming weekend Sept. 27 and 28 to the theme of “A Night in the City.”

Homecoming weekend starts off with a pep assembly on Sept 27 during school hours to hype students up for the event. Later in the day parade at 5:30 p.m. The traditional parade proceeds from the MIHS parking lot, down Homestead, over W 27th St, and south on Caughey Road. It finishes up at the high school student parking lot. 

Following this, the Trojan football team plays against Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School at 7:00 p.m. The Homecoming Court will be announced and the king and the queen will be crowned during half time.

The Homecoming Dance is Sat. Sept. 28 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The theme of the Homecoming events this year is a “Night in the City.” 

“Every aspect of Homecoming weekend is organized by The Girls Athletic Club,” says Pam Miller, adviser of GAC and a guidance counselor at McDowell High School. Voting for Homecoming court took place on Sept. 6, the second round was on Sept. 11, and the vote for King and Queen was on Sep 18th.  

Miller says that Homecoming “is a great time to get dressed up and dance with your friends or just hang out in the south gym and talk and listen to music.”

The DJ for this event will be DJ Sean. Tickets will be sold  beginning Sept. 19 running through Sept. 26.
