Prom is right around the corner and if you’re looking for long wearing lipsticks, Kylie Jenner’s liquid lipsticks could be an option for you.
Kylie lip kits have been selling out every time they restock. These lip kits include a lip liner and liquid lipstick, and recently almost every brand has hopped on the liquid lipstick bandwagon.
Kylie Jenner got on the trend and debuted three colors in December. They are sold only online and the first launch all sold out in under a minute. As time progressed, she released more colors and has had more restock days.
I have purchased four of the lip kits. The kit’s colors range from pinks, deep reds, orange reds, to browns.
“The extremely long wearing lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients for a comfortable, emollient and silky feel that does not dry your lips out,” Kylie Cosmetics claims. I will say this is the best liquid lipstick formulation I’ve tried, it is very drying which I expected from it being a matte formula. Every matte liquid lipstick is very drying, but as long as you exfoliate and moisturize your lips you shouldn’t have a problem.
To avoid fine lines, always apply lip liner before applying the lipstick. First, outline your lips, then apply the liner all over your lips filling them in completely. After that put the liquid lipstick on top of the liner. This extra step also helps to avoid cracking when you smile. I don’t think the liner in this kit is exactly life changing. It is mediocre, but the lipstick itself is great. The liner is also very soft, so be wary that the tip could break off quite easily. The formula is very long-wearing compared to my Kat Von D liquid lipsticks which I like very much, but the kits aren’t as long lasting as I want them to be.
The liquid lipsticks are not transparent, and it does last through eating and drinking. I’d say this lasts about 3 to 4 hours before needing to reapply. I have two problems with the Jenner liquid lipsticks. The first problem I have is with the Mary Jo lipstick which has red with blue undertones. The lip kit dries fully like the other liquid lipsticks, but it smears all over my face and it takes forever to get it fully off my lips and face. The second problem I have with this product is the packaging. When I take the wand out of the tube there’s nothing to catch the excess product, so it just sits at the top of the tube. In the long term, this is going to waste some of the liquid.
Overall I think this product is great. It really impressed me, and I will definitely be purchasing more of Jenner’s lip kits and the new glosses and metallic liquid lipsticks.
